"…and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32
Welcome to Annapolis Christian Academy (ACA). ACA is a K-12 classical Christian school designed to partner with parents of like values to develop life long learners who are carefully equipped to meet the educational, professional, moral and spiritual challenges that we all face throughout adulthood. The Annapolis motto, Passion for Learning – Prepared for Life, represents our two- tiered goals for education. We pursue these goals by instilling a clear and accurate understanding of truth and inspiring the desire to pursue it vigorously.
An abiding love for truth is central to a passion for learning. This love presupposes three important beliefs: there is truth, truth can be known, and there is great value in its possession. When present, these beliefs naturally ignite a passion to learn. When absent, a passion for learning gives way to an attitude of apathy that views learning as an arbitrary exercise, and thinking as drudgery. Proverbs 2:4 admonishes us to seek knowledge, discernment, and understanding as if they were silver or hidden treasure. Pursuing truth in this manner insures a passion for learning, and this is our desire for all the students at Annapolis.
Learning to distinguish that which is real and genuine from that which is false and misleading is critical to one’s education and effectiveness in life. It is central to our instruction in all subject matter. We insure this preparation for life by teaching all of our subjects under the umbrella of a biblical worldview. Colossians 1:16 states “For by Him [Jesus] all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, the visible and invisible…” Approaching teaching and learning from this perspective allows us to solidly establish a student’s knowledge and understanding of reality on the God who created it.
Through the application of the classical Christian approach to education, Annapolis Christian Academy has uniquely accomplished these goals. This methodology provides us with a developmentally sensitive approach to learning that allows us to teach with the grain of a student’s natural God given inclinations.
During
the elementary school years children soak up knowledge like sponges. They
naturally desire to learn basic facts and rules. Students at this stage also
posses an elevated capacity to remember information. We accommodate these
tendencies by focusing our instruction on providing a solid foundation of
factual knowledge and basic rules in a way that they can most readily remember
it. Packaging the information in rhymes, jingles, songs and chants helps us
to enhance their active memories.
During the junior high years students seek to better understand the world around them. Purely factual information no longer satisfies them. They tend to be very interested in knowing how or why we can know something to be true. Questioning their parents and teachers becomes more common and occasionally, they are known to challenge authority. These characteristics are not necessarily negative. Instead of resisting these natural inclinations in teenagers, we harness them by helping students to learn how to ask good questions and discern good answers. All teaching during these years is integrated with an emphasis on critical thinking and supplemented by formal instruction in argument and reasoning. It is our desire that students at this stage learn to think through problems reasonably and clearly.
Finally,
during the senior high years, as students become preoccupied with social concerns,
we design our instruction around teaching them to present themselves appropriately.
The focus is to teach them to effectively communicate the knowledge they have
acquired to date. Now, it is their turn to provide good answers to our questions.
We accomplish this by emphasizing oral and written communication across the
subject matter in the form of discussion, debate, drama, essay writing, public
speaking, and instruction in persuasion. This approach fosters confidence,
and leadership ability. It also bolsters our student’s communication
skills.
By partnering with dedicated parents who share our vision and values, Annapolis has been dynamically educating students in the Corpus Christi area since 1995. We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with you in this adventure in discipleship of the next generation of Christian thinkers and leaders.
Founded in 1995 with a vision to “recover the lost tools of learning,” Annapolis Christian Academy (ACA) has established itself as the only non-denominational, K-12 Academy in the Corpus Christi area. We are distinctively Christian and Classical. Annapolis Christian Academy is committed to offering a service to parents who are seeking a truly excellent education for their children, taught from a distinctively Christian world view. It is our hope, that we will graduate young people who are prepared for a lifelong pursuit of learning and who will impact their culture for the glory of Christ!
A
PreK–12 Academy
Since its inception, the founders and board members of Annapolis Christian
Academy have been committed to having a non-denominational K-12 school with
a biblical worldview using the classical Christian model of education. Since
the classical model incorporates all 12 years of a student’s academic
development, ACA is committed to maintaining a K-12 academy. At this time,
we are the only Protestant Christian high school in the Corpus Christi area.
We currently serve approximately 200 students, with plans to increase enrollment
to up to 300 students.
Curriculum
All subjects are taught within the framework of a Christian World View and
the curriculum is Classical in methodology and content. Please refer to the

ACA acknowledges the importance of being accountable to an accrediting organization which would have a similar vision, mission, philosophy, and core values. Therefore, in 2008-2009, Annapolis Christian Academy underwent a rigorous outside review process and exceeded all requirements for accreditation with the Association of Classical Christian Schools and the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission to gain status as a fully accredited non-public educational institution. Some of the benefits of our accredited status include:
In a summary statement of the accrediting committee’s official report to the ACCS Board of Directors, they stated the following about Annapolis:
“The quality of and the commitment to classical Christian education occurring in the classrooms of Annapolis Christian Academy is strongly representative of the highest standards that ACCS wants to promote and see emulated by other classical Christian schools. It is obvious to the accreditation committee that the constituent parents of Annapolis Christian Academy are blessed with the highest quality education for their children. The accreditation committee heartily recommends that Annapolis Christian Academy be granted a 2-year accredited status.”
In addition to accreditation with ACCS, Annapolis is a member school of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI)
Our Vision at Annapolis Christian Academy is to:
Graduate
young men and women who think clearly and listen carefully with discernment
and understanding;
Who
reason persuasively and articulate precisely;
Who
are capable of evaluating their entire range of experience in the light of
scriptures; and who do so with eagerness and joyful submission to God.
We
desire them to recognize cultural influences as distinct from biblical, and
to be unswayed towards evil by the former.
We
aim to find them well prepared in all situations, possessing both information
and the knowledge of how to use it.
We
desire they be socially graceful and spiritually gracious;
Equipped
with and understanding the tools of learning;
Desiring
to grow in understanding and wisdom, yet fully realizing the limitations and
foolishness of the wisdom of this world.
We
desire they have a heart for the lost and the courage to seek to dissuade
those who are stumbling towards destruction; That they distinguish real religion
from religion in form only; And that they possess the former, knowing and
loving the Lord Jesus Christ.
And
all these we desire them to possess with humility and gratitude toward God.
Our
Mission at Annapolis Christian Academy is to assist parents
in their biblical responsibility to educate their children through the proven
combination of the Christ-centered curriculum and the classical approach to
learning.
Annapolis Christian Academy (ACA) was formed in the summer of 1995 by a group of concerned parents who had read Discovering the Lost Tools of Learning by Doug Wilson and desired to open a school in Corpus Christi following this classical and Christian model. The large group of parents selected a steering committee, and from that group a board of directors was selected to open and operate the school. . Administrators and teachers attended training at Logos School in Moscow, Idaho, the school after which Annapolis is modeled. Funding in the form of donations and grants was received, and by God’s grace, the school began operation of its first school year in September of 1995, serving over eighty families and just under one hundred students. The name “Annapolis” was handed down when Annapolis Prep School, a 9th-12th grade ministry of Church of the King, on Annapolis Street, teamed up with the now K-12th grade Annapolis Christian Academy.
Steady growth has been seen, both in numbers and in the maturity in which the school delivers a classical Christian education. In its first ten years, Annapolis Christian Academy has served nearly three hundred families and graduated 43 students. These graduates of Annapolis have been able to enter the colleges of their choice and perform well in the college setting right from the start. Our distinguished graduates have been awarded a number of honors scholarships.
The school board of Annapolis Christian Academy has been given a vision for generations into the future and humbly lifts that vision up for God’s providence and guidance each year. The school has been a positive impact on the community of Corpus Christi and God’s name is to be praised for what He has done through Annapolis Christian Academy!
Annapolis Christian Academy is an independent, inter-denominational academy governed by a Board of Directors comprised of parents of current and former students of ACA. The board members of ACA have a strong knowledge of the school and a strong understanding of the Biblical and academic principles and values that the school is striving to instill and to achieve. These individuals are dedicated to promoting and preserving ACA’s vision, mission and objectives and are committed to its Statement of Faith and Foundational Beliefs regarding education. All those serving on the Board are active members of a local evangelical church and must exemplify in their daily lives a testimony to their faith and growth in Christ. Board members regularly attend conferences and obtain additional training concerning classical and Christian education. These board members are dedicated individuals devoting many volunteer hours to board meetings, committee responsibilities, and the promotion of ACA in our community.
